Vandal Soak

Vandal Soak was developed by School District No. 42 Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows as a means of deterring loiterers and potential vandals. The system uses a series of pipes and sprinkler heads, much like sprinkler systems found in office buildings, apartments and hotels, only these are set up on the outside of the building and are hooked up to motion sensors.

When someone walks within a few feet of the building, Vandal Soak takes a minute or so to charge, giving pedestrians a chance to vacate the area, then begins spraying five gallons of water per minute per head - in the form of a fine drenching mist - for about five minutes.

The system has been installed on two schools which were prone to acts of vandalism. The schools are now virtually vandalism free.

A pdf document providing the system's specifications is available for download by clicking here.
